The June 6 bike ride will start at the Up Down Arcade Bar in the CWE at 11am. We will end up next door at Dressel's Pub around 3pm and will get a tour from Ben Dressell of Rock & Horse Brewing (located in the basement) at 4pm. We expect we will have a group that will ride, a group that will meet us at Dressels and many that will do both.
Note: The main site for this group is now HeyLo and the event is posted there as well. Join HeyLo and RSVP to the event on that site to continue getting notices and updates for events.
This year we will start and end in Francis Park at the Rockwell Beer Garden for this May 4th Ride.
This ride is 12 miles with 2 to 4 miles between stops. This will cover a mixture of new destinations, favorite spots, and points of interest - hopefully you will discover a new place, path and/or meet new friends.
Initial Map (https://maps.app.goo.gl/HMxs7AHocKJvD27h7
). Downloadable GPS link coming soon after I tweak the final route This is a social, no drop ride. We will stop to regroup if we get separated (at the top of a hill, through a traffic light, etc.). For those not biking, you are welcome to join us at our stops along the way!
The itinerary for the Saturday, June 6th ride is below:
*11am-11:45am - Up Down Arcade Bar - I'd recommend parking on Washington Avenue east of Euclid. There are usually plenty of non-metered spaces available. We will depart promptly at 11:45am and ride ~2.5 miles down Euclid and through Forest Park to our next stop. (very good) Pizza by the Slice is available here.
*12pm-12:45pm - Modern Brewery - Civil Life Brewery - One of our favorite stops with a great patio, beer & food. If you didn't get something to eat at Up Down and want to eat before we end the ride at Dressel's, this is the official lunch stop. From here, we will then ride ~4 miles through Lafayette Square to our next stop
*1:15pm-2pm - Square 1 Brewery & Distillery - We haven't stopped here on a ride in a bit and you'll have time to sample their beer and/or distilled spirits. From here we will take the ride ~2 miles along the cycle track to the soccer stadium.
*2:15pm-3pm - Schlafly Brewery Tap Room - I think this is the first time our bike ride has stopped here (although we have been to Schlafly Bottleworks). From here we will ride ~4 miles taking the new Brickline Greenway segment that just opened to SLU and ride through SLU back to the Central West end.
*3:30pm-? Dressel's Pub and Rock & Horse Brewing - This is where we will end the ride. There will be a tour of the brewery at 4pm. After the tour, feel free to hang out or return to Up Down which is next door.
We will post messages here during our stops if we are running ahead or behind schedule in case you want to meet up with us along the way.
Remember - bring a water bottle and we always recommend a lock even though we try to stay close to or in sight of our bikes when possible.
Important Notice: The safest way to ride is to not consume alcohol before or during any bide ride. If you choose to sample alcoholic beverages at any time during the ride, we recommend you take advantage of ½ pours or samples sizes. We also encourage you to share any samples you order with others in the group. This ride is intended for us to check out some of the venues in the area and meet new friends. This is not a pub crawl, no one should ride a bike or drive a vehicle after more than a drink or two.
