About
This 16km route offers a perfect balance of river valley floor and high-downland ridge. Starting from Amberley Station, we’ll head straight into the heart of the countryside, crossing the River Arun before the steady climb up towards Bignor Hill. With 300m of elevation, it’s a more accessible run than our coastal routes but still provides plenty of interest and varied terrain.
The pace will be strictly social, focusing on the enjoyment of the landscape rather than the speed of the finish. It’s a great opportunity to chat with fellow runners while traversing the historic Roman roads and ancient tracks that criss-cross this part of the Downs. We will stick together as a pack, ensuring a steady flow that keeps everyone warm and moving.
Regarding kit, trail shoes are highly recommended for the woodland sections and the climb up Bignor. Though shorter than our 20km runs, you should still carry hydration and a light snack. We’ll finish back near the station—perfect for those travelling by train or looking for a post-run coffee in Amberley.
