About
What is Recovery Ride? Fitness. Fundraising. Fellowship. Fun. The Recovery Ride is a round-trip fundraising bike ride that supports the mission of the Castro Country Club — a safe and sober community center and refuge for the LGBTQ recovery community in San Francisco. From September 11–13, 2026, Riders will embark on a three-day journey that begins on Friday in Sausalito, travels through the beautiful hills of Marin and Sonoma Counties, and arrives in Guerneville. After a day of fellowship, activities, and celebration on Saturday, riders will return to Sausalito along a stunning coastal route on Sunday. The Recovery Ride is more than a cycling event. Together, we build community, raise vital funds, and show the world the strength and resilience of people in recovery and their allies. Every mile pedaled is a declaration that no one rides the recovery journey alone. Together we are creating more than a ride — we are creating recovery in motion. The Recovery Ride Road Crew Volunteers The Road Crew is the backbone of this extraordinary three-day ride — working behind the scenes (and sometimes out front!) to keep everything running safely, effortlessly, and joyfully. There are roles for anyone who wants to volunteer, whether you're a veteran or just getting started. This volunteer application helps us to identify your skills, experience, and interests, so we can match you with the right opportunities. Once you complete your registration on the Heylo platform, including the questionnaire, we request that you sign up for a Volunteer Townhall & Onboarding session. You’ll see these events once you complete this process and have access to your Heylo dashboard. What is the Heylo Volunteer Platform? Heylo is a powerful online volunteer management platform that connects people to their favorite local causes — like the Castro Country Club — offering easy ways for volunteers to find, sign up for, and track volunteer opportunities. We will use Heylo to recruit, onboard, train, and communicate with volunteers about all of the 2026 Recovery Ride volunteer opportunities and activities. This will be our communication platform for all things before and especially during the event weekend. It's important that all volunteers download the app and allow notifications.
Member requirements
Volunteers will need to attend one of our onboarding sessions and any required trainings. All volunteers will be required to sign a liability waiver.
